The Ministry of Health has registered this Thursday 167 new cases of coronavirus in Spain in the last 24 hours. The Autonomous Communities of Madrid, Catalonia, Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha account for more than 80% of the positives. While the regions of Asturias, Murcia and La Rioja and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla did not provide any infection.

The figure has decreased compared to this Wednesday, when 167 new cases were reported in one day. The global number of people affected by the pandemic in the country so far is 242,707 people and 27,136 have lost their lives. The death toll has been frozen for several days. A fact that the Ministry argues to the verification and adjustment of the data between the Autonomous Communities and the Government.

This Thursday Castilla y León, which has accounted for 5 new cases, has requested the passage to Phase 3 of the provinces of León, Palencia, Burgos, Valladolid and Zamora. However, it will demand that Salamanca, Ávila, Segovia and Soria continue in phase 2, due to their proximity to Madrid, which continues to be the main focus of the pandemic in Spain.
