The new communication offensive of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce shows how differently and diverse the self-employed are dealing with the crisis.
Vienna (OTS) – Business people honestly and authentically describe their experiences, worries and wishes in times of Corona – in the form of personal video messages that were posted online in March wienerstimmen.at and spread it on social media. These form the core of the current communication offensive of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce. Further measures such as radio spots have been running on Vienna’s regional radio stations since the beginning of March.
The aim of the new communication offensive of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce is to give individual entrepreneurs a voice and a platform on behalf of all businesspeople. They should touch, inspire and promote cohesion and the regional economy.
The Viennese companies are currently primarily concerned with these topics:
- A quick and complete restart of the economy to gradually bring about economic normalization. The companies are ready to implement appropriate security measures, but at the same time demand all efforts by the public sector to achieve a rapid vaccination coverage and to make the free test offer comprehensive.
- New efforts to counter the shortage of skilled workers, which is still unsolved in many industries such as IT and will very quickly become a serious braking factor again in many other industries when the economy picks up again. Measures in the field of education and training naturally take time to have an effect. They are therefore not to be neglected now.
- Prepare traffic in the city for the time after Corona, with a new parking zone model, as much commuter traffic as possible in public transport and innovative projects in the field of alternative forms of drive.
- Improve the framework conditions for economic activity, in particular through more digital channels, shorter procedures and a reduction in non-wage labor costs so that urgently needed new jobs can be created more easily.
The diversity of Viennese voices
Many a business person had to apply for financial help for the very first time in their lives. Many have quickly developed new business models so that instead of despairing, optimistic and creative make the best of the situation:

- “This and that is no longer allowed – then it’s up to me and my creativity to say how can it still work,” chats Doris Flandorfer from Greenery Wool in favorites practically close to the sewing box, which developed creative solutions using Instagram and a kind of “wool drive-in” in order to be there for their customers.
- “When our friends noticed that we were up to our necks, everyone was suddenly there. That helped us a lot, ”reports Lothar Laaber from the Laaber bookstore in Vienna-Landstrasse. Initially, he relied on Click & Collect and postal delivery. He even sent books to Tenerife: “I envied the pack!”
- “We can’t always look in the rearview mirror to see how it went. We are orienting ourselves towards the future, ”it shows Manfred Sramek from the Sramek bus company optimistic in Brigittenau.
