The Minister of National Education, Kindergarten and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, said in Rabat on Monday that the ministry has strengthened school sports this year by organizing 44 national championships in different disciplines and participating in 13 international championships.
In response to a question on the promotion of sport in schools during the weekly oral question session in the House of Representatives, Benmoussa said that the ministry ensures that physical education sessions are held in all schools, indicating that the number of physical education teachers employed increased from 340 to 500 in the current year.
Daily physical activity has been adopted in primary education, he added, underlining the launch in this context of an experimental operation at the level of 800 schools, the promotion and generalization of school sports associations and the upgrading of sports infrastructure, as well as the use of nearby land.

The minister also recalled that Morocco has been designated by the International School Sports Federation to organize the world championship in school football (under 18) next July.
Regarding the “sport-studio” course, Mr. Benmoussa noted that the number of enrolled students has reached 6,138, spread over 39 disciplines, indicating the signing of a partnership agreement with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and Sport Education and Solutions Foundation to supervise and train 1,500 students in women’s football at a number of regional education and training academies starting this year.
