A 17-year-old girl was stabbed multiple times in the chest and back during a fight with another woman outside a Brooklyn high school on Friday afternoon, police said.
The victim was in front of the Metropolitan Diploma High School on Rockaway Avenue when she was arguing with another woman who attacked and stabbed her, always according to police.
Authorities believe the victim is a student at the school.
It is not clear if the suspect in the attack, who fled the scene, is also a student at that school.
The Department of Education pointed out that even though the attack took place outside a school building – in which there are several schools in addition to the Metropolitan one – it has nothing to do with the schools. The department said it is collaborating with police in the investigation.
In recent days there have been other incidents in which students have been stabbed.
