A total of found 14 corpse found lying on the side of the road in the state of North Zacatecas, Mexico., who allegedly are victims of acts of violence committed by local crime organizations.
According to the local government, the location is where criminal gangs operate.
Quoted from AFP, pictures in local media showed the body on the side of the road, wrapped in a blanket and tied with adhesive tape. Zacatecas public prosecutor Francisco Murillo told the press that four bodies had been identified and were from Juan Aldama.
Juan Aldama is a city 150 kilometers (90 miles) north of Fresnillo, where the victim was found.
“These are people who disappeared from the area a few days ago,” Murillo said.
Zacatecas is on one of the main drug smuggling routes to the United States. According to experts, the area was contested by at least three local criminal gangs affiliated with the two most powerful drug cartels in Mexico, namely Sinaloa and New Generation Jalisco (CJNG).
On Wednesday, a clash between rival Sinaloa factions killed 16 people in the northwest.
Earlier, Mexico City Police Chief Omar Garcia Harfuch was injured and two of his bodyguards were killed in an attack by a group of gunmen. A woman who drove past the scene was also killed.
Garcia Harfuch suffered three gunshot wounds and was hit by grenade fragments. He accused the attack was carried out by the CJNG group.
Since December 2006, according to official figures, when the government was carrying out a military operation against illicit criminal gangs, more than 290,000 people had been killed.
