This Sunday the slight rebound in deaths from COVID-19 continues, according to the report provided by the Ministry of Public Health. It was confirmed that nine people lost their lives to the coronavirus, three of them were women and six were men.

Another particularity is that all the deceased were in the age group of 60 years and over, of which one had the full dose of vaccine, four did not complete the immunization schedule and four were not inoculated. The departments of: Alto Paraná, Misiones, Central, Guairá and Paraguarí are indicated as origin.

With these latest figures, the total number of deaths amounts to 18,586, since the first positive case of coronavirus was reported in Paraguay, on March 7, 2020. The health authorities indicated that 1,757 samples have been processed, of which 131 they tested positive, with which they add up to 647,099 confirmed.

Regarding the number of hospitalized patients, it is mentioned that 68 are in intensive care units and 67 hospitalized in the ward, totaling 135. In the midst of these negative data, an incentive is that a total of 621,935 have managed to defeat the lethal virus.

After having reported less than ten deaths daily, a rise in deaths began to be registered since Friday the 18th when, according to the official report, 12 new fatalities from the disease were confirmed. In this way, it was reported that in the last hours the number of deaths tripled. Likewise, the day before, an increase in the number of infections was reported compared to the previous day, since of 2,247 samples analyzed, 213 tested positive for COVID (68 more than on Friday).

Although the use of face masks is still mandatory in closed places, other prevention measures such as hand washing and the use of disinfectant alcohol have been withdrawn in most centers of mass influx of people, so there is again a relaxation in the population. Meanwhile, internationally, China, where the first positive case of the new coronavirus was confirmed, returned to the confinements of two years ago and quarantined more than 36 million people. This due to the rebound in coronavirus cases.
