Severodonetsk is a key point in the system of the defense operation of the Luhansk region. The city cannot be viewed otherwise. About this on Wednesday, June 15, declared Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny.
The general said that the stubborn struggle for the Luhansk region continues. Russia has concentrated its main strike forces in the north of the region and is trying to attack simultaneously in nine directions.
“The offensive is being carried out from south to north in the directions of Popasnaya-Komyshevakh and further to Lisichansk, Popasnaya-Nikolaevka, Popasnaya-Berestovo, from north to south in the directions of Bogorodichnoye-Slavyansk, Izyum-Slavyansk, below – Popasnaya-Svetlodarsk, from east to west Severodonetsk – Lysichansk, as well as on the directions of Severodonetsk-Metyolkino, Toshkovka-Komyshevakha,” he specified.
At the same time, Zaluzhny noted, the enemy is using aviation, multiple launch rocket systems, and artillery to oust the Ukrainian troops.
The general expressed confidence that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would stand against the invaders, and Ukraine would win.
As previously reported, a difficult situation remains in the Luhansk region. Ukrainian the military hold back the onslaught of the enemy from three directions at once – they defend Severodonetsk and do not allow them to advance to Lisichansk.
