A military journalist explained what specific actions we need to take this year to stop the enemy’s advance: “An army of drones, mobilization, construction of defense structures – all these are complex and strategic decisions. If they are accepted, then in 2024 there is an opportunity to stop the Russian offensive. If this is again a struggle for landings and a search for heroes who are ready to dig a hole and hold it for five days under fire, and then go on an assault, then I want to say that such people are over and that our generals will no longer harbor illusions.”
Then Yuriy Butusov voiced his vision of the mobilization process, when Ukrainians themselves want to go to war: “It must be said that neither President Zelensky, nor the General Staff, nor the Minister of Defense should think that a panacea will be found and people will join the army. They won’t just go, you won’t drive them away just like that. People need to be mobilized so that they understand the logic of what they will do in this war. Society needs clarity and certainty, then there will be results, because the army is not a very good manager of human lives. The army has the task of using the potential of Ukrainian society. This is what mobilization should be primarily aimed at.”
