37 performance and 45 technology scholarships with a total funding amount of 75,000 euros were awarded by the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce (WKS) to FH students who have distinguished themselves through their special commitment and achievements.

Engaged students of FH Salzburg can look forward to special support: Since 2009 and 2013, the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce has been awarding performance and technology scholarships to students every year. With this financial recognition, international stays abroad are supported on the one hand, but special academic achievements are also recognized. In 2022, the total amount of scholarships awarded was increased by 20,000 euros to a total of 75,000 euros. As a result of this increase, more students than before can now benefit from this support.

From South Korea to Canada, from Tanzania to the USA: there are many opportunities to complete a semester during your studies or an internship at a company abroad. While stays abroad in Europe are supported by the Erasmus program, stays outside of Europe usually have to be financed entirely by yourself. The Salzburg Chamber of Commerce can help here.

True to the motto “glocalisation” – i.e. “think global, act local” – international experience abroad opens up new perspectives. The acquired knowledge is then used regionally.

“With our scholarships, we want to increase student mobility and enable them to gain experience in other countries. This will also benefit the domestic economy in the medium and long term.”

WKS: Promoting young technical talent

In addition to the 37 scholarships abroad (since 2009; this year a total of 30,000 euros), in 2022 there were again 1,000 euros each for 45 students in the field of technology. “With the technology scholarships, we want to set an example and show how important this training is for Salzburg companies, and of course we want to support young technical talent with these scholarships,” confirms WKS director Manfred Pammer.

650,000 euros in funding since 2009

In the 14 years since the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce has awarded performance scholarships, around 720 students have been supported in their stays abroad and technical studies. The Chamber of Commerce, which is the sponsor of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences together with the Chamber of Labour, has been providing an important impetus for particularly committed students for over a decade.

The management of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, Doris Walter and Raimund Ribitsch: “We see ourselves as a university with an international orientation, so it is important that there is further funding for experiences abroad outside of Europe in addition to Erasmus+.

“The WKS scholarship holders are important ambassadors for our university, and at the same time they bring valuable impulses from abroad and exciting life experiences back to their course.”

FH-Rector Gerhard Blechinger
