On February 23, at the 14th National Winter Games, the Yunnan team ushered in a harvest day. Jiang Yixin and Pan Mengnan, athletes jointly trained by Yunnan Province and Jilin Province, won the championship and runner-up respectively in the men’s 10-kilometer cross-country skiing youth group (interval start free technique) competition. Yunnan team player Chen Aldao won the silver medal in the women’s snowboarding big jump competition.
The competition for the youth group of the cross-country skiing event officially started on the 23rd. The men’s 10 kilometers (interval start free technique), which started first, was very competitive, with a total of 49 contestants participating. In addition to the two jointly trained athletes, the Yunnan team also sent 4 players to participate. Competitors will start in reverse order according to their qualifying results. One player will start every 30 seconds. After two laps, the winner will be decided based on each player’s final time.
During the competition, Jiang Yixin did not gain a clear advantage at the beginning. He was only 1.60 seconds ahead of Xinjiang team Meidu Damu at the half-way mark. However, he fought tenaciously and finally won the championship with a time of 24 minutes, 29.1 seconds. Pan Mengnan ranked only fifth at the half-way mark. He adjusted his tactics in time during the remaining 5 kilometers and finally won the silver medal with a time of 24 minutes, 30 seconds and 9 seconds.
On the same day, local Yunnan player Chen Aldao performed stably in the women’s snowboarding platform event and won a silver medal. In the first round of jumps, Chen Aldao chose a less difficult technical move and ranked second with 64.20 points. In the second jump, Heilongjiang team star Ren Ziyan topped the list with 138.8 points in two rounds, followed by Guangxi team player Gan Jiajia. Chen Aldao made a slight mistake in this jump and only scored 56 points, ranking third. In the last jump, Chen Aldao scored a game-high 87 points. Gan Jiajia increased the difficulty and scored 82.4 points. Ren Ziyan, a strong contender for the gold medal, made a mistake while performing a difficult move and missed out on the medal. In the end, Gan Jiajia of the Guangxi team won the gold medal with 149.6 points, and Chen Aldao of the Yunnan team finished second with 143.8 points.
On the 24th, the cross-country skiing venue will usher in the men’s 50-kilometer open race, known as the “Snow Marathon”. Yunnan players Liu Rongsheng, Chen Degen, Li Taiwei, and Cai Weirong will join hands in the competition. Chen Aldao will also start the women’s individual competition in the open category of snowboarding slopestyle skills.
