The ad honorem head of the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES), Yamil Bukele, assumed the presidency of the Steering Committee of the Central American Isthmus of Sports and Recreation (Codicader) last week.
The transfer of command was one of the main points at the Ordinary Meeting of the Codicader, organized by INDES in the Salvadoran capital the previous Thursday.
“We are here to celebrate not only the Ordinary Meeting, but also to get to know each other, to work and, obviously, to tell you from the outset that El Salvador is already ready to organize the Codicader Games, category 15 17 years, and also to congratulate and thank Panama, which is going to take the reins of the Codicader organization for students with some type of disability,” Bukele commented.
The ad honorem president of INDES received the Codicader flag from Maiqueline López, head representative of the Nicaraguan Sports Institute (IND), in a special event that symbolized the change of command.
Bukele takes over from Nicaraguan Marlon Torres and will preside over the regional entity in the same year in which El Salvador will organize the XXI edition of the Codicader Games, category 15-17 years.
“In our country, sport has been taken with the value it deserves to be transformative for every society and I believe that it is the work that we must begin to promote from this table,” said Bukele.
El Salvador will organize the regional from October 2 to 11 in modern and renovated sports venues such as the Jorge “Mágico” González National Stadium, the Ciudad Merliot Sports Complex and El Polvorín, among others, which are a legacy of the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023.
“We have the great opportunity to achieve great transformations in this important area such as Central America,” added the sports leader.
The Central American Student Sports Games have been held since 1996 and have become the most important school sports competition in the area and an important seedbed for different sports.
“We leave the baton to El Salvador and we know that they are going to do invaluable work,” said Maiqueline López.
