Yabe in the footsteps of Amélie Poulain

“Yabe is the story of a start-up that wants to change the way we consume by transforming its users into consom’actors”. Born from the meeting of three young Thionville residents, Antoine Berghen, Cyrille Derouaz and Anthony Franchetto, the Yabe digital platform established in northern Moselle since December 2020 connects local consumers and merchants through a digital exchange zone – which works like a messaging – intended to (re) energize city centers. “Yabe was not born with the pandemic, assures Antoine Berghen, but she was an accelerator. It has facilitated the awareness of consumers ”. Launched in Rennes, Luxembourg, Nancy and Metz, Yabe already brings together a community of 30,000 “followers” on various social networks and is built around a team of around thirty people whose mission is to develop the tool and extend it to around twenty “medium-sized towns” throughout France.

“In Thionville, it can work like everywhere”

And since it is the traders who talk about it the best, Yabe was shooting a short film in downtown Thionville last week. A team from Paris specializing in supporting start-ups in making a few takes on rue du Mersch, rue de Luxembourg and rue de Jemmapes inspired by a famous scene from the film Amélie Poulain. “Everyone has in mind this moment when she introduces the merchants of her neighborhood to a blind man,” continues Antoine Berghen. David Del Bourgo, the cheese maker from rue du Mersch – Chez David – was the first to play the game. “Yaber” from the start, he explains: “It’s a very good initiative 100% free for the merchant. which allows a connection with a clientele that we are not necessarily used to seeing. In Thionville, it can work like everywhere. It is very easy to use and unlike the telephone, this messaging system makes it possible to respond to customer requests when you have a little time in front of you, without disrupting the organization of the store in the midst of a fire. »Two other businesses lent themselves to the shooting game: Shared Bonheurs, rue de Jemmapes and L’Instant, rue du Luxembourg.
