Women fled from Geyersvlijt detention center on New Year’s morning


In Suriname, two women fled the Geyersvlijt women’s detention center on New Year’s morning. It concerns Ancheline Bernandin and Simone Grantsaan.

They managed to get out of the cell house and jump through the fence by placing a mattress. After the discovery, all units are alerted. The Surinamese police have started tracing the women again.

Ancheline B. was imprisoned for violation of the Narcotic Drugs Act and Simone Simone Grantsaan in the matter of theft.

UPDATE: Bernandin checked in with her attorney at 11:30 a.m. She’s behind bars again. Grantsaan is still a fugitive.
