Two of the three Swedish IS women who were deported from Syria were arrested when they arrived in Sweden. According to SVT is the one woman suspected of war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity.
The third woman was taken in for police questioning. All three are believed to be affiliated with IS.
People returning from IS-controlled areas may have committed crimes that can be investigated in Sweden, states Swedish prosecutors and adds that more cases are being worked on.
Interior Minister Mikael Damberg says he can not confirm or comment on individual cases.
– I can confirm that there are several suspicions of war crimes that are being investigated. We have many surveys, both of people who are in Sweden, but also who are in these camps, he says.
The women landed on Monday afternoon at Arlanda near Stockholm with six children. They have been in the Kurdish-run al-Roj prison camp, but have now been deported from Syria. The Swedish Foreign Ministry has assisted with the trip.
Another eight Swedes with 16 children are left in prison camps in Syria.
