Woman Jumps to Her Death from Times Square Hotel after Disturbance in Room

NEW YORK — Authorities are investigating the death of a 20-year-old woman who apparently jumped to her death from the roof of a Times Square hotel after a disturbance at the room where she was staying left the place a wreck, New York Police said. New York City on Wednesday.

According to a uniform, police officers received multiple 9-1-1 calls about a disturbance on the tenth floor of the OYO Hotel 157 W 47th Street in midtown Manhattan. Officers arrived around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday. Shortly after, the police received the call about the alleged jump from the roof.

Police found a 24-year-old man in the room where the woman was staying. They said the place was trashed like there had been some kind of problem. Cops say they are looking into the possibility that the man attacked the woman before she jumped, but at this time they don’t believe he threw or pushed her out of the building, authorities say.

Officers had to use a Taser on the man in the lobby while he was being taken into custody and later transported him to Bellevue Hospital in what they described as an emotionally disturbed state.

The woman’s identity has not been released. There was a baby under a year old with her and the man, police said. The child was given to a stranger during the course of the incident and was not harmed.

Police say charges are pending against the 24-year-old man, which may be related to possible endangerment to children or the possible assault investigation. No other details were immediately available.
