A woman suffered injuries of some seriousness following an apparent fall in the area of the tetrapods of the maritime protection rockfill, in front of Casa da Luz, on the marginal of Funchal, in the late afternoon of this Monday.
Twelve elements of the mountain rescue team of the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters, assisted by an ambulance and two support vehicles, were mobilized to the site by 8 pm, and are currently carrying out the rescue operation of the victim who is conscious.
Everything indicates that he is a person who usually attends the homeless support service. He will have become unbalanced and fallen, suffering injuries to his legs, being unable to stand up alone.
The firefighters had to apply themselves, using mountain rescue material, to help the victim who was prostrated in an area of difficult access, between the reinforced concrete structures of the maritime protection rockfill.
The victim has bruises on his limbs, was immobilized in a hard plane and transported in an ambulance to Dr. Nélio Mendonça hospital.
The Maritime Police is taking care of the occurrence.
