Winter storm in New York with rain through Friday

Beginning Thursday afternoon and night, the city will experience precipitation and wind, with rain continuing through Friday.

The MTA has called for precautions in subway stands and platforms.

“Expect winter weather later tonight through tomorrow 🌧

“Make sure you are very careful on stairs and platforms, give yourself extra time for your ride and check the MYmta app or https://t.co/8rwbuwle0p before heading out,” the MTA wrote in a social media post .

The rain will continue through much of Friday. Due to gusty winds, the MTA will ban empty trucks and trailers from its bridges between 10 p.m. Thursday and 2 p.m. Friday, the agency said in a news release.

One of the weather services in town called due to being indoors due to the cold.

“It’s a great day to be extremely in. Constant cold rain in the city and near the coast. Winter mix and snow in the backcountry and higher elevations,” New York Metro Weather said in a social media post.
