Winter is back in full force CARDS

Light rain and snow are expected in some places in southwestern Bulgaria and the Balkans. This is the forecast for the weather forecasters from Meteo Balkans (“Meteo Balkans”) for Saturday.

Precipitation below 800-1000 meters above sea level will be from rain. The wind will weaken and it will be from the southwest. The minimum temperatures will rise, but remain lower than the climatic norms for the beginning of March.

The expected minimum temperatures in the country will be between minus 2 ° and plus 3 ° С, and it will again remain cooler in the mountainous regions, the valleys of Western Bulgaria and the extreme northwestern regions – up to minus 3-4 ° С.

We expect the highest values ​​to be the minimum values ​​on the Black Sea coast, the Upper Thracian lowland and the Sandanski region – up to 2-3 ° С.

On saturday the weather will remain mostly cloudy. There will be temporary cloudbursts before lunch over Northern Bulgaria. We expect it to be almost unchanged in Southern Bulgaria, where light rain will fall, and in the mountainous regions – snow. After lunch the wind will be oriented from the north-northeast, but will remain weak, and in Eastern Bulgaria will intensify to moderate.

Weather forecast is expected on the night before Sunday. Then the clouds from the southwest will thicken in many places until the evening of the second day off new snowfalls will begin, and they will be more significant in Western Bulgaria.

The prevailing maximum temperatures on Saturday they will decrease slightly and will be between 5 ° С and 8 ° С, and again it will stay cooler in the mountainous regions and valleys of Western Bulgaria – up to 4-5 ° С.

The weather in the mountains will remain partly cloudy, in many places mainly in the Rila-Rhodope region with snowfalls. A moderate wind will blow from the east-northeast, in the highest parts – from the southwest. Maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200-1300 meters around minus 2 and plus 1 °, at 2000 meters – around minus 6 °.

Weather is expected to worsen on Sunday night, when it will worsen in the mountains. Significant snow cover will form, which in some places will exceed 30 cm, and in combination with the strong wind on the passes there will be conditions for precipices and gusts.

Along the Black Sea coast the clouds on Saturday will remain significant, with light rainfall along the south coast. Mostly moderate northeast wind will blow. Maximum temperatures will drop to 6 ° -7 ° C.

Weather in Sofia by noon it will be partly cloudy. Worsening is expected in the afternoon. The clouds from the southwest will increase again and by the evening there will be light snowfall. Morning temperatures in the capital will be relatively low for March – about minus 2 ° C. In the afternoon, the maximum will rise slightly and will reach values ​​of only 4 ° and 5 °.

PM forecast – No pollution is expected in big cities – the levels of fine dust particles in the atmosphere will be normal.

Over the next 24 hours The Balkans will be affected by an approaching Mediterranean cyclone from the southwest. Worsening weather is expected in Central and Northern Greece, and until the evening and at night against Sunday precipitation will cover almost the entire country.

Temperatures will gradually rise, but will remain lower than the climatic norms for the beginning of March. We expect more hours of sunshine in the northwestern and southern parts of the peninsula, but the clouds there will be broken.

Over the next 48 hours, the weather situation in the Balkans will worsen. We expect a new Mediterranean cyclone to form, positioned over the Ionian Sea.

Significant rainfall is expected along the Adriatic coast and the Aegean Sea. Significant snowfalls are expected in the Dinaric Mountains, Rila-Rhodope Massif and mountainous regions in Greece.

We expect a significant snow cover to form, which in some places will exceed 40-60 cm.
