Will Munsy break Lothar Emmerich’s goal record?

It will be the weeks of truth, even if after the home game against Jahn Regensburg on Sunday (1.30 p.m.) the Wrzburger Kickers and the second football league sit out for a weekend. The Kickers have to win in the next few games if they want to have a chance to stay in the league. This requires leaders, actors who lead the way. Captain Arne Feick has seldom been able to convince in the last few weeks and is now absent with a muscle injury. Four players who now have to step in the breach:

Ridge Munsy

How many goals does a Strmer have to score to be called a good season? Attackers are ultimately measured by their hits. Ridge Munsy still needs three goals to catch up with Lothar Emmerich (nine goals in the 1978/79 season). Then he would be the most successful second division scorer of the Wrzburger Kickers. Munsy has already surpassed all players from the 2016/17 season: Rico Benatelli, Tobias Schrck and Elia Soriano met five times each. And yet more is expected of the Swiss. One of the reasons for this is that Munsy often dives into the game, and the defensive behavior of the Strmer is often part of the content when coach Trares rages on the sidelines. Munsy’s game thrives on his goals and the Red Pants need the 31-year-old’s hits if they are to survive in league two. He would have to surpass Emmerich’s record if he wants to be remembered on Dallenberg for a long time.

Hendrik Bonmann

The last man at the bottom says: I literally thirst for a game to zero. To finally get a clean sheet again, that would be the basis for the Rothosen to score points in the relegation battle. On the 27-year-old goalkeeper, the goal balance can hardly be determined. The Kickers conceded 51 hits in 24 games, an average of 2.125 per game. In the twelve appearances with Bonmann in the box, there were 21, so only 1.75 hits per game. With an average of three saves per game, Bonmann is in tenth place in the midfield in the second division comparison. But Bonmann’s strength, also according to his own assessment, is the conducting of the people in front of him. We need even more discipline on the pitch, says Bonmann, who once sat on the bench at Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League but did not play a game for the first yellow and black team.

Christian Strohdiek

When the ex-captain of SC Paderborn signed on with the Wrzburger Kickers in January, it quickly became clear: the 33-year-old should ensure stability and keep the defense together. Sports director Sebastian Schuppan was looking for a German-speaking player with experience and found his ex-teammate Strohdiek. His debut in the 3-2 win in Osnabrck was promising. In the first few games in a kickers dress, the Paderborn veteran presented himself as a real defensive boss who also stimulated the attacking game with strong diagonal balls. But there wasn’t much to see of it in the end. Strohdiek’s performance curve shows, at least since he initiated the defeat with a capital mistake before the first goal at 1: 4 in Frth, down. Most recently, he received the Main Post score of 5.5 not only because of his unfortunate own goal in the 1: 2 against Heidenheim. The Kickers team would have to rely on Strohdiek and his experience right now.

Martin Hasek

Like Strohdiek, Hasek didn’t join Rothosen until January. Unlike the defender, the Czech was not fully in the juice. He hadn’t trained with a team for over half a year since he had a contract dispute with his ex-club Sparta Prague. Under normal circumstances, the kickers could never have signed a player like him, said the coach and sports director. And that’s why you have to be patient with the 25-year-old midfielder. There is really one thing that cannot be said of Hasek: that he is lazy to walk. He was three times in nine appearances so far, the player with the most kilometers covered on the entire second division game day. This was also the case in the last Kickers game against Heidenheim, when Hasek ran 13.1 kilometers. But not much came out of it. No shot on goal, no template. The Kickers executives had promised that Hasek should be a player who can make all the difference. That is also necessary now. The kickers can no longer have patience, the time of the Czech at Dallenberg should end at the end of the season anyway.
