The neighborhood workshop at SCI: Moers has now been awarded a Christmas surprise. The Ministry of the Interior in North Rhine-Westphalia is funding the commitment of the Neighborhood Aid, which has been at home in the SCI: Youth Social Center Barbaraschule for 12 years, with 1000 euros. This is communicated by the SCI.
The former miners took on countless missions during these years as neighborhood help for residents of the district in Moers-Meerbeck, it continues: They moved cupboards, hung pictures, changed lightbulbs. Work for which no neighbor was available at the moment.
In addition to mobile neighborhood help, the volunteers are also active in the workshop. Here, the wishes of schools and kindergartens are realized, raised beds are built or chairs and tables are redesigned. And once a month the workshop is open as a repair cafe to carry out repairs on furniture or electrical appliances.
