For a third of patients, cardiac arrest was directly linked to the coronavirus. For all the others, the doctors put forward several hypotheses. This can be the difficulty of reaching the emergency services, the generalists not very accessible.
“Our heart failure patients had more meetings, consultations. Another observation, half the number of patients who arrived alive during this period in hospital, a low survival rate which can be explained by the fact that the cessation occurred at home. “We are less likely to find an automatic defibrillator at home. Family witnesses also do less cardiac massage due to emotional load“, explains the cardiologist.
For every minute passed without resuscitation, there is a 10% less chance of survival.
