Why has democratic model failed in Kuwait while non-democratic model succeeded in the Gulf?

Al-Marsad newspaper: Writer Muhammad Al-Ratyan revealed the most malicious questions directed to Arab and Gulf citizens in particular, wondering at the same time why the democratic model in Kuwait failed to build development and the non-democratic model in Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha succeeded in building amazing development.

The writer said during a tweet posted on his Twitter account: “One of the most insidious questions that an Arab citizen, and a Gulf citizen in particular, can face is: Which do you prefer: the development of the Emirates… or the democracy of Kuwait?!”

He continued: “It is a question similar to those questions that come with their answer ready in their belly… It makes you look at the second with suspicion and caution for fear of it harming the first and its achievements! And its greatest malice lies in the fact that it suggests to you that their meeting is impossible! Your mind will tell you: What is the value of the loaf that my hand cannot reach freely?” “Your stomach will say to you: What should I do with freedom when I am hungry? Your heart will tell you, and the believer’s heart is his guide: I want them both!” he said.

The failure of the democratic model

He added, the question that we must think about a lot: Why did the democratic model in Kuwait fail in building development… and the (non-democratic) model in Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Doha succeeded in building amazing and astonishing development?! Which one is better suited to manage more than a billion people?

He continued, India’s democracy or China’s totalitarianism? Who succeeded in organization, education, industry, economy, and providing some well-being to his people between the two models: India or China?
