WHO launches ‘chat’ service on WhatsApp to share advice, news and data – Jornal Económico

The World Health Organization (WHO) this Friday launched a messaging service on WhatsApp to keep people safe from the new coronavirus by sharing information, in English, on prevention tips, news and latest data on the pandemic.

“This messaging service is easy to use and has the potential to reach two billion people, allowing WHO to put information directly in the hands of the people in need,” he said in a statement.

He added that “from government leaders to health professionals, family and friends, this messaging service will provide the latest news and information about the coronavirus, including details about symptoms and how people can protect themselves and others.”

He added that “it also provides the latest real-time situation reports and figures to help government decision makers protect the health of their populations”.

The service can be activated via a link that opens a conversation on WhatsApp. Users can simply type “hi” to activate the conversation, asking for a menu of options that can help answer their questions about Covid-19.
