The new coronavirus will continue to spread rapidly as societies return to pre-pandemic social communication and mobility, Reuters reported, citing World Health Organization (WHO) Emergency Situations Director Mike Ryan.

During the holidays at the end of the year, it is important that everyone takes measures to protect themselves from COVID-19, including getting vaccinated and keeping a distance, said Maria van Kerchow, a WHO epidemiologist. Experts also emphasize that wearing protective masks is also extremely important in protecting against the new coronavirus, writes BTA.

“In many countries and communities, we are concerned about a deceptive sense of security that vaccines are ending the pandemic, and people who are immunized do not need to take any other precautions,” warned WHO Director-General Tedros Adanom Gebreyesus.
