When dance and music express more than words

The term waltz comes from the German, from the word walzen, which translates as “to go around”. It is true that the Darymelia Theater did not house much of this genre of artistic dance expression, but there were many turns, almost the same as applause after a show in which body language, dance and music went hand in hand. to excite the public. The Darymelia theater thus hosted the show In Memorian, the highlight of the XVII International Festival of Contemporary Dance and Creation that takes place this weekend in the city, organized by Alika Move Lab, under the direction of the Jaen-born dancer and choreographer Noemí Real .

In this way, this show is already a tribute to dance as a means of free expression and also designed, within the commemoration of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated on March 8. With In Memorian, great teachers and artists such as Cristiane Azem (Brazil), Carolina Fonseca (Portugal), Rachida Aharrat (Morocco), Paula Yunis (Argentina), Álika from Jaén and Gloria Alba have taken to the stage, as well as musicians such as Salma Vives, Fernando Depiaggi (Argentina) and the participation of companies and soloists from all over Spain. A hundred people take part this weekend in this new edition of an artistic, cultural and scenic project, which also aims to give visibility to the creation made by women, as well as generating a space for reflection on the role of women in the art and bring the voices of its protagonists closer to society, both dancers, choreographers, artistic directors and researchers.

From this exchange, a new way of thinking and feeling dance and creation is offered as a territory of resistance, a political, vindictive place that generates the desire to move already established dominant, hierarchical structures and remove totalizing and hegemonic ideals of modeled, disciplined bodies. , virtuous and sculptural.

The program also offers experimental dance laboratories or workshops called ‘Labsurdance’ that will take place from 4 to 6 March at the Inturjoven hostel & spa in the following time slots during the day today, from 06:00 to 10:00 . Each of these laboratories will be taught by professionals such as Gloria Alba, Paula Yunis, Carolina Fonseca, Álika and Cristiane Azem. This last day, just at noon, also from the Inturjoven Hostel, the closing of the Festival will be celebrated with a Collective Creation open to the public entitled Movement and Image. Álika will direct it and will have the special collaboration of the photographer from Jaen Ramón Guirao and live music by Fernando Depiaggi and Salma Vives. This project closes the works focused on dance, dance and the contemporary that for 72 hours have focused the cultural axis within the capital of Jaén with different collaborations.
