Ben Affleck will put on the Batman cape once again to play the masked superhero in the film about the character of The Flash that Argentine director Andy Muschietti is preparing.

Vanity Fair magazine assured this Thursday 20-A that Affleck will join Michael Keaton, another actor who played Batman in the past, to jointly give life to this superhero in a Warner Bros. film that he will try to bring to the big screen the idea of the “multiverse” of DC Comics.

In this “multiverse”, different superheroes and villains can appear in different plots, worlds and temporal realities that coexist within a large narrative framework.

This “multiverse” allowed the authors of DC Comics to play with greater flexibility when it came to fiddling with the characters, who could appear in different narrative lines and under different attributes, without losing the illusion of coherence of the whole.

Thus, in this film about The Flash, which will star Ezra Miller, different versions of Batman will appear in the skin, at least for now, of Affleck and Keaton.

“Affleck’s Batman has a dichotomy that is very strong: his masculinity, because of his appearance and imposing figure (…), and that he is very vulnerable,” Muschietti said.

“It’s a very important role for the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry (The Flash) and Affleck’s Bruce Wayne (Batman) will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before. It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but his characters are more related than we think, “added the director of” It “(2017) and” It Chapter Two “(2019).

Affleck played Batman in the films Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad (both from 2016), and Justice League (2017), all of which belong to the Warner Bros. cinematic universe about the DC Comics stories.

His work as Batman, in line with the tepid and half-hearted reception these three films aroused, was not particularly applauded, especially when compared to the success of filmmaker Christopher Nolan and actor Christian Bale in their triumphant Batman Begins trilogy. (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012).

Affleck next planned to direct and star in the film The Batman, but eventually gave up on this project.

The filmmaker Matt Reeves took the reins of this film that will be headed by Robert Pattinson with Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell and Paul Dano in his cast.

For his part, Michael Keaton, whose incorporation to the film of The Flash was known last June, gave life to the hero of Gotham in the films “Batman” (1989) and “Batman Returns” (1992) by Tim Burton.
