When Airline Goes Blood, Super Air Jet Flys First!

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The new Super Air Jet airline formed by the owner of the Lion Air Group, businessman Rusdi Kirana finally flew for the first time today, Friday (6/8). This airline made its historic debut in the midst of social restrictions or PPKM during the Covid-19 pandemic which caused many airlines to bleed.

Super Air Jet started its inaugural flight milestone by serving its favorite flight route, from Jakarta – Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, in Tangerang (CGK) to the following destinations: Medan (KNO) via Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra and Batam ( BTH) via Hang Nadim International Airport in the Riau Islands.

“Medan and Batam are the most popular destinations for millennials. This route has the character of a large and still existing domestic flight market opportunity, and because the network and area are well known and liked by many people, it is finally known as a super popular route,” said the Director Utama Super Air Jet Ari Azhari in his official statement, Friday (6/8).

Super Air Jet operates with a flight frequency of 1 (one) time per day, which is served round trip (PP), using an Airbus 320-200 with a capacity of 180 economy class seats.

Previously, the airline had already obtained an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) or the airline’s commercial operating license and was ready to fly for the first time.

In addition to the two prime destinations, there are other destinations that are planned for this new airline, namely:

  • Palembang via Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport (PLM)
  • Padang via Minangkabau International Airport (PDG)
  • Pontianak – Supadio International Airport (PNK)

The news about the formation of a new airline by Lion Air Group founder Rusdi Kirana has been widely circulated since October 2020. At that time, an aircraft design under the name Super Air Jet was circulated, using the results of Airbus and Boeing manufacturers.

The image was uploaded by Aviation Observer, Gerry Soejatman, on his Twitter account.

“Yesterday we saw #SuperAirJet in #Airbus #A320. How would it look like with a #Boeing #737NG ? Looks interesting but I am certain, this is an early concept livery and the airline itself might be different from what we’re seeing today. Graphics courtesy of @Eka_viation,” tulis Gerry
