TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – WhatsApp reportedly released a new privacy feature ‘My Contacts Except’ which allows users to control who can see their information in the app. The app’s new feature tracking platform, WABetaInfo, reports that the feature was introduced via WhatsApp beta version 2.21.23.14.
This feature allows users to choose who can see their information such as status, profile photo and description on WhatsApp. This will be the fourth option along with ‘Everyone’, ‘My Contacts’ and ‘Nobody’ in the settings menu last seen or last seen.
For the ‘My Contacts Except’ option, users need to select the contacts they don’t want to share information with. Contacts not selected here will continue to be able to view all user information.
If the user disables the feature last seen for certain contacts, consequently, the user will also not be able to see their status. The rules for this do not apply to descriptions and profile photos.
Another WABetaInfo report is the WhatsApp beta update version 2.21.23.13 which also brings a new interface (UI) for ‘Contact Info’, as well as version 2.21.23.12 for the UI on ‘Group Info’.
Besides, there is also Disappearing Message feature which allows the user to choose a duration between 24 hours, seven days, and 90 days. The changes were previously available for beta testing on iOS, and are now available for Android.
Introduced last year, the feature offers the option to automatically make certain messages disappear after seven days. Update WhatsApp which now offers the option of a time duration to automatically delete messages in the app bearing the handset logo.
