“WhatsApp” introduces 4 new classifications to display different statuses within the application – Tawasul Electronic Newspaper | A comprehensive Saudi news newspaper covering economic, social and political news

Instant messaging platform WhatsApp is testing a new way to display statuses shared by users within the app.
According to what was stated in the latest beta update of the application, the platform will add four different classifications to sort the statuses available within the application, which are: all, recent, displayed, and hidden. Add an announcement

Details of the four WhatsApp cases

The All label allows you to view all statuses from contacts.
The Recent classification also allows displaying the most recently shared statuses.
While cases that have already been viewed can be accessed via the Viewed category.
As for contacts whose statuses are hidden, they appear in the Hidden classification
Through these options, WhatsApp is trying to make it easier for users to control the content of statuses, especially if they have a large number of statuses.
The platform had made a major change in the Cases tab, changing its name to Updates, to show the channels that the platform had recently added to the cases.

Widespread controversy

These changes sparked widespread controversy among users, who demanded that the platform return to the previous design, which focused primarily on displaying statuses alone.
Some users suggested moving the channels into a separate tab, to facilitate access to their content without negatively affecting the review and management of cases.
WhatsApp launched the Status feature in 2017 after its success on a number of other platforms at the time, such as Snapchat, and it is currently considered one of the main features in the application.

Inserting ads into WhatsApp

Recent reports indicate that WhatsApp is planning to introduce ads into the WhatsApp application, and they will likely be present in the Channels and Statuses services, so the platform is keen to improve the user experience and interface to the maximum degree before launching its advertising services.
