The health minister, Carolina Dariashas said that from the second half of septemberwith the new covid vaccines adapted to the Omicron variant, will start administering fourth dose -the second reinforcement-. The first people to receive them will be, as always, those over 80 years of age. Darias has not referred to the voices, such as that of the Spanish scientist Luis Enjuanes, who have advocated the lap of restrictions like the mask.

“Everything indicates, with all prudence, that it could be with the arrival of new vaccinesI think from the second half of September; if the European Medicines Agency authorizes these new vaccines adapted to the -ómicron- variant, it may be a good time”, predicted the Minister of Health in an interview in Rac1.

Health expects everyone over 60 to be vaccinated by the end of the year
Darias has remarked that the Public Health Commission has agreed to start first with those over 80 years of age and people in residences, and later move on to those over 60 years of age, groups that he trusts can reach the end of the year with the second dose reinforcement set.

Effective vaccines against the new variants of covid
Darias has asserted that the effectiveness of immunity remains high and that it is necessary to allow a period of time to pass between one puncture and another. In what cases is the fourth dose of covid recommended?
Just this week, the Public Health Commission of the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System (CISNS) has approved the recommendation of the fourth dose of the covid vaccine for those over 60 years of age, although especially for those people with risk conditions.

Until this week the second booster dose was only approved -since last spring- to over 80 years and people living in nursing homes. It will be in September when these older people start to get the new dose.
