The great failure of the ruling camp is the slow pace of investigations into the Smolensk catastrophe. An even greater problem is the negligible communication regarding the investigations and the progress of the work of the Smolensk subcommittee. All this plus – from time to time – too far-reaching theses, not supported by evidence, make the issue of the national tragedy easy to laugh at and ignore. Even when very important findings emerge. This is what is happening right now.
“TNT on the wreck of a Tupolev” – was the title of an article by Cezary Gmyz in Rzeczpospolita from 2012. It caused a shock, but the journalist’s findings were confirmed by tests at the Central Forensic Laboratory of the Police in 2013. Then it became clear that the case of 10/04 becomes serious not only on the emotional level, but also enters a completely new phase of the investigation conducted by the Military Prosecutor’s Office. So the hard work of the team at that time began to confuse the TNT issue and then ridicule it. The results of the CLKP studies were twisted – it should be emphasized a hundred times, and this falsehood in uniforms was patted down. There was TNT, but … it was not there. It was against common sense and science, but it was safe. It was still possible not to decide anything specific, there was no need to mention any breakthrough in the investigation. The Polish-Russian friendship could develop peacefully.
Today we receive information, confirmed in a second foreign laboratory, that on parts of the Tupolev wreck there WERE TROTYL and RDX (hexogen). These are not inventions, they are not hypotheses. It’s a scientific statement of fact. The answer to the question: is there an explosive in the tested samples? This is.

And this is where one should stop at this moment. Avoid information noise on both sides. There are also those who impatiently order to answer immediately, Is it possible to speak of an explosion or even an attack due to the fact that we have identified explosives? I would like to cool down these questions. There is no answer to it. Not available yet. I know it’s been 11 years since the crash, but because of what happened right after it, how this investigation was conducted, we’re basically at that point. We know there was TNT. It is both little and a lot, because it will not allow anyone to question the fact that somehow direct this investigation. When the tests in foreign laboratories are completed, what should happen in 2013 will happen. Knowing that the explosives were found, prosecutors commission an analysis to find out how it got there and what impact it had on the cause of the crash. This must be the sequence of actions. Hard, arduous work. But necessary. Many years late for the reasons mentioned above.
Over the years, the impatience grew. Perhaps this resulted in certain theories introduced into public circulation too hastily. Emotional, but not properly supported by evidence. Such as, for example, research in laboratories. Unfortunately, this allows us to lead the substantive discussion astray today. Therefore, precision is needed. If we are talking about an explosive, the presence of which has been confirmed on the elements of Tupolev, let the discussion concern ONLY THIS. I do not agree to mixing threads, ritualistic, mentioning in one breath: “thermobaric bomb”, “bursting sausages” or “finishing off the wounded”.
I am asking you not to get caught up in such hype. Because something really important is lost in it, information about TNT and hexogen, certain and confirmed. It may not be much for today, but a lot for the future, because it is an inviolable starting point for further work.
