“We have to win, at home, in front of our audience”

The dating marathon follows. After Barcelona on Thursday and Chartres on Sunday, the “H” is back at the H Arena this week. Interview with Baptiste Damatrin before the reception in Toulouse.

Baptiste, what are your impressions of these first 3 weeks of competition?

“The first 3 weeks were very encouraging for us. We started the Champions League against 3 very big European teams and we showed that we could rub shoulders with the big ones in Europe, or even snatch victory like us. were able to do it in Kiel.

In the league, it was imperative to start in the best possible way. For our 1st home in Lidl Starligue against Ivry, we were keen to win the match in front of our home crowd and to directly gain confidence.

From an individual point of view, I try to give all my energy in every minute I spend on the pitch to help the team as much as possible. I haven’t scored in the first 2 league games yet, but I intend to get back to the net on Wednesday. “

How were the first trips of the season?

“For the first trip to Kiel, I was in a room with Lucas De La Bretèche, then with Théo Monar and Thibaud Briet this weekend in Chartres.

With the group, the atmosphere is always very good, and we all get along really well, which makes the trips very pleasant. We like to play together, especially card games. We have several but in general we play President, and I often win (laughs).

Even though the game was complicated, it was very important to win in Chartres.

“The match in Chartres was very difficult. The Chartrains put on a great physical intensity which surprised us a little in the first period. In the second half, we were able to raise our heads and play our game.

The most important thing was to take the 2 points, to stay at the top of the table and it’s done. Now we have to focus on who is coming, with these two league games against Toulouse and Montpellier. “

How is your duo formed on the left wing with Valero Rivera going?

“For me, it’s a real chance to evolve alongside Valero. He helps me a lot to progress. He has a lot of experience so I listen to everything he says to me and I try to apply his advice at best. I really enjoy playing and training with him on a daily basis “.

Toulouse surprised you last year. What kind of match are you expecting?

“We are obviously expecting a very close match against Toulouse. They have a very solid team and will have some cards to play this year in the Lidl Starligue. The match will be difficult, but we have to win, at home, in front of our public to be able to stay at the top of the table “.

Thank you Baptiste, and see you on Wednesday!
