Sriwijaya Air Denies Involvement in Tin Corruption Case, Founder Named Suspect: CNN Indonesia Report

Sriwijaya Air finally we spoke out about naming the suspect as the founder of the company, namely Hendry Lie, in the case tin pollution with a potential loss of IDR 271 trillion.

Sriwijaya Airlines Corporate Communications Zaidan Ramli confirmed that the company had nothing to do with the arrest.

“In principle, we respect the ongoing legal process. However, this case has nothing to do with PT Sriwijaya Air as a separate business entity,” Zaidan said in an official statement, Tuesday (30/4 ).

“Sriwijaya Airlines continues to serve its loyal customers in the midst of the tin issue that has developed in the past few days. We continue to maintain professionalism in aircraft operations throughout this period,” he said.

Zaidan confirmed that the corruption case involving Hendry Lie had no effect on the company.

According to him, there is no possibility of disrupting the operational services of Sriwijaya Air and NAM Air.

Sriwijaya Air Group promises to continue to implement existing standards in its flight operations services.

The Attorney General’s Office named the co-founder of Sriwijaya Air Hendry Lie as a suspect on Saturday (27/4). He was involved in an alleged corruption case in the trading system of tin products in PT Timah’s Mining Business Permit (IUP) area in 2015-2022.

“HL is suspected as the owner of the benefit and FL is suspected as the marketing officer of PT TIN to have participated in the cooperation to lease tin smelting processing equipment with PT Timah Tbk,” said the Head of Information Center The Attorney General, Ketut Sumedana, argued in a written statement.

Hendry Lie and the other suspects were charged under Article 2 Paragraph (1) and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law No. 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Law No. 31 of 1999 regarding Amendments to Law No. 31 of 1999 regarding the Suppression of the Crime of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1d of the Criminal Code.
