To Dagbladet, the Swedish police spokesman Lars Hedelin says that one can not ignore that the bear has crossed the border into Norway. It was last seen in the border area at Våler municipality.
– If it has set direction towards Norway, it is absolutely possible that it may have entered the country. The audience must stay away. This bear is angry and very dangerous, Hedelin says Dagbladet.
The bear was shot in the jaw on Friday afternoon in connection with the bear hunt. The search for the bear was resumed on Saturday morning.
– It’s hurried. It is not possible to run from it, it is associated with danger to life, says Lars Hedelin, spokesman for the Swedish police.
At 15 o’clock on Saturday, the hunting team took a break, and the search is resumed when the hunters get an indication of where the bear is, the local newspaper reports Nya Wermlands-Tidningen.
Adult male bear
The bear is probably an adult male bear. The population is warned against moving in the area east of Höljes, which is less than ten kilometers from the Norwegian border as the crow flies.
It is primarily hunters who participate in the search for the bear, but according to Nya Wermlands-Tidningen, police and predator experts from the regional authorities also participate.
Hedelin says the most important thing is that no one seeks out the area out of curiosity.
Warns against tourist trail
– We do not want the general public or curious people in the area. It is very important that those who may be in the area leave it, and that no one else enters there, says Hedelin.
A popular tourist trail, the so-called Nordvärmlandsleden, is located in the area that is warned against.
The nearest town on the Norwegian side of the border is the forest village Gravberget in Våler municipality.
