Vojvoda: Atalanta and Standard have yet to agree

The 25-year-old right-back does have an agreement with the Champions League quarter-finalist club.

Arrived last summer for a little over a million euros (including bonus), Mergim Vojvoda could already leave Standard a year later. As we revealed in our edition of July 6, two Italian clubs had made him their priority: Torino and Atalanta. Interest also came from Russia with Spartak Moscow but the idea of joining this competition did not delight the player who favors a passage in Italy.

In recent weeks, Mergim Vojvoda, still under contract in Sclessin until 2023, has been scouted by Atalanta. Vojvoda is not the only target of the club which always has the habit of scrutinizing several profiles and even initiating discussions with them. Still, during the friendly match against Nice, the Italian club sent Gabriele Zamagna, right-hand man of the sporting director, Giovanni Sartori, to meet the player. That day, informal discussions took place with the Liège management but no negotiations were initiated. Focused on its quarter-final (lost to PSG) of the Champions League, Atalanta continued talks with Standardman. According to the Kosovar press, an agreement in principle was even found between the two parties. This is indeed the reality. A year after joining Standard and despite too many criticisms of which he has been the target, Mergim Vojvoda could well move from PO2 with Mouscron to the Champions League with Atalanta.

At the time of writing, the Italian club has not yet formulated a concrete offer to the Liège management. But we know the first intentions of the Italians who would be willing to put 4 million euros on the table while the Liege would claim 6, knowing that Mouscron will receive 20% of the capital gain achieved. Finally, note that the track leading to Torino is not extinct for all that.
