Railroad QR network attracts five foreign groups

Eduardo Ortiz Jasso, director of the Strategic Projects Agency of Quintana Roo, reported that five foreign consortia are interested in the development and construction of the urban-tourist railway network in the state, which will have as one of its functions to feed the train passage Maya.

In an interview with MILENIO, he commented that the business groups are from the Asian continent, a couple from Europeans and another from Canada.

The project is made up of two light rail systems, with a length of 47 kilometers. Contemplate that one of them enters the downtown area of the city of Cancun following the route Avenida 20 de Noviembre –Chac Mool – Huayacán – Airport, and the other will be for tourists, when going through the hotel zone with the Andrés Quintana Roo route –Cobá – Kukulcán – Airport.

According to estimates from the state government, the total investment of the project will be 32 billion pesos.

The five consortiums are developing their own studies to propose to the state government what type of train is suitable for this railway project.

The forecast is that this system feeds 100,000 daily passengers to the Mayan Train and handles a total of 220,000 users.

Ortiz Jasso said that the approach is for this project to be developed under the public-private partnership scheme and be in operation by September 2022.

The official explained that so far it is contemplated that there is a station every kilometer, specifically in places with high capacity of people such as public beaches and shopping centers.

Although the price of the passage charged to users is still being analyzed, it has already been established that there will be differentiated rates, that is, one will be for tourists and another of lower cost for the residents of the city.

He indicated that despite the lack of definitions on the project, almost all of these transport systems need a subsidy, so he foresees that public resources will be required for their development.

According to the government of Quintana Roo, this project is part of a comprehensive strategy that promotes the objective of feeding and complementing the Mayan Train, a project promoted by the federal government, and the possibility of contributions from the entity is considered.

NICHUPTÉ BRIDGE

The director of the Quintana Roo Strategic Projects Agency commented that another work that will benefit the mobility of the area is the Nichupté vehicular bridge, which will connect the center of the city of Cancun with the hotel zone, on Kukulkán Boulevard, with an extension of 8.5 kilometers.

He noted that this road crosses the Nichupté lagoon system and care has been taken so that it does not touch the protected natural area called Manglares de Nichupté.

He pointed out that the investment for this vehicular bridge is 4 thousand 455 million pesos and 6 thousand 211 jobs will be generated, of which one thousand 900 will be during construction and 4 thousand 311 for the operation.

The plan is for this work to be a public-private association, where a company will manage it for 28 years. The road will be paid for private vehicles, but it will also be able to access public transport and will have a bike path.

RECEIVE CONAGO PLAN FROM CMIC

The president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC), Eduardo Ramírez Leal, reported that his infrastructure proposal, which includes 238 works with an investment of 300 billion pesos, was well received by the president of the Confederation National Governors (Conago), Juan Manuel Carreras, who promised to promote it.

The official informed MILENIO that this package of works will be shared with each of the governors of the country’s states and with the Ministry of Finance, to verify which projects can be included in the federal budget for next year.

He commented that there was a total opening of the Conago to receive and promote the proposal, since they also want the country’s economy to reactivate after the crisis caused by the pandemic.

The next step will be to meet with the head of the Office of the Presidency, Alfonso Romo, to introduce him to this infrastructure package.

PLUS

THERE IS NO PERMISSION FOR THE BREWER

The federal government will not grant permission to the Constellation Brands brewery, despite the fact that its managers are seeking to settle in Mexicali, where the project was rejected by the population through a popular consultation, said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

In a conference he recalled that he met with the firm’s executives to talk about the cancellation of the project and the offer to grant them permits to operate, but in another region of the country.
