Viral Woman Showing Aurat Allegedly at Yogya Airport, Threatened by the ITE Law

Yogyakarta, CNN Indonesia

Video of a woman showing off intimate area allegedly taken in the area Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) went viral on social media. The police are also investigating this case.

The action of the woman with long hair and a mask was previously uploaded by a Twitter account at the end of November.

Kulonprogo Police Chief AKBP Muharomah Fajarini said the investigation process was carried out in collaboration with the DIY Regional Police cyber team and PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) as the manager of YIA.

The results of a provisional investigation show that the action was allegedly carried out before October 2020. The allegation arose because there were no signs prohibiting stopping at the shooting location.

“In the video there is no sign prohibiting stopping, but when we checked after the video went viral, it turned out that there was a sign,” Fajarini said, Thursday (2/12).

According to the airport management, the signs were only installed in October last year. “So it is possible that the perpetrators made the video before October,” he continued.

Fajarini stated that this woman’s actions could lead to criminal threats, namely the Pornography Law and the Electronic Information and Transaction (ITE) Law.

“For the perpetrators, we will impose the Pornography Law with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison or a maximum fine of Rp. 6 billion. In addition, they are also charged with Article 45 paragraph 1 of the ITE Law with a maximum prison sentence of 6 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 1 billion,” concluded Fajarini.
