The event, which celebrates its fourth edition in 2024, is a recently created initiative that aims to promote reading and education in this Zaragoza municipality. The novelties of the book fair are several, with a wide diversity of activities for all audiences, which continues to be the benchmark of this event. Book presentations, musical performances, cinema, talks, children’s comic duel and workshops of medieval calligraphy.

Saturday February 24

11:00 am Comic workshop “The story ends”*, led by Chesus Calvo. Capitol Room

12:00 h Medieval calligraphy workshop*, led by Ricardo Vicente. Capitol Room
We will calligraph, with a pen and inkwell, the letters that history has bequeathed to us (font to choose). During the session we will experience the art of ancient calligraphy. Calligraphy will serve as a guiding thread to discover how the letters were designed, what materials supported them, fabric, canvas, metal, clay, stone, skin and of course paper. We will learn how a calligrapher worked at that time in history, what the secrets of ancient letters were, with what utensils he used to write the documents and books that were entrusted to him; What pens and inks did the miners, copyists, amanuenses, scribes, illuminators, scribes, pendolists, calligraphers use?

12:45 h Presentation of Frontier Dragons, the Spanish Wild West, by Gregorio Harriet. Capitol Room
Did you know that the mythical Apache chief, Gerónimo, spoke Spanish? Or that it was also Billie the boy’s native language? The Cuera Dragons were Spanish soldiers located on the last frontier of the empire. They were the ones who faced the fearsome Native Americans and those who began the true Conquest of the West.

5:00 p.m. Children’s comic duel*, with Daniel Foronda and the Incredible Picaraza Man. Capitol Room
Very fun activity where, in pairs, boys and girls have to draw, in a month of three minutes, a character, following the instructions that come out of the bag. King Alfonso I with a mantilla cutting his hair, Agustina of Aragón going out to explore space or Nayim dunking in a basketball game, are just some of the combinations that can occur in this crazy bloodless duel.

18:00 h What a story!, with Cristina Abad. Capitol Room
A presentation? A recreation? A concert? All this and much more takes place in this activity about the novel Creciente de Luna: theatrical appearance of re-enactors with period clothing and weapons and staging of a fragment of the novel; short audiovisual screening; oral presentation by the speakers; printing after the act of wax seals with the reproduction of the talking emblems of the Aragonese houses protagonists in the work, which will be given to readers with the reading point of the book; exhibition of educational materials for historical recreation
