Viagra May Reduce Alzheimer’s Risk by 60%, According to American Study

Al-Marsad newspaper: An American study found that Viagra can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease by 60%.

Researchers say that sildenafil, known commercially as Viagra, blocks an enzyme found in the brains of those suffering from the disease in large quantities. According to the Daily Mail.

They pointed out that Viagra works to enhance blood flow, which means that it has the ability to treat dementia, because it improves brain health.

The study suggested that Viagra inhibits a protein called PED5, which is “significantly increased” in Alzheimer’s patients in the part of the brain that manages memory.

It is noteworthy that Alzheimer’s disease still has no complete cure, but early diagnosis can help slow the progression of symptoms using a number of available medications.
