No miracle for Valenciennes who failed to take points against the leader Toulouse (1-3) this Saturday at the opening of the 24th day of League 2. The coach Christophe Delmotte gave his analysis of this match at a press conference.
« We come up against a very good team from Toulouse. We wanted to have a compact block and defend while advancing. It took us a while to do it, we let the storm pass but there was a deficit of two goals. But we came back, we were not unworthy and we could, I think, come back to 2-2. Toulouse deserved its victory and is not first for nothing. Toulouse has the ball a lot, we remained united, we gave everything we had at our current level. There was a difference between the two teams, they had control of the game. We showed that we were able to resist, to be able to produce something on the 2e period but we saw the capacity of Toulouse to have maturity in the game with confidence. It would have been great to continue our series and take points. We didn’t, but it was against the leader. The maintenance operation is here, there will be an important match at QRM to play. Robail? It shouldn’t be too serious, he will do additional examinations on Monday, it’s at the level of the patellar tendon. Beanie? He did a real performance! He’s getting stronger, he’s done a lot of races, he’s scored… We’ll need him to perform and score more goals. »
