Vaccines, doses in the offices of general practitioners arrive in Lazio. Here is the new updated plan

Finally we leave. In Lazio, the new phase will begin on Monday 1 March, that of vaccinations against Covid by general practitioners (MMG). At the moment, according to what is learned, they are available 80 thousand doses that out of 4 thousand general practitioners in Lazio make about 20 doses distributed for each one. In Rome, among the studies concerned, there will be one at the Trullo and others in the Asl Rm1.

“We will start from those born in the year 1956 (65 years) with the AstraZeneca vaccine. a slow start due to the lack of vaccine doses “, explained the councilor for health of the Lazio Region, Alessio D’Amato on Friday. At the moment just over a third of the Mmg of Lazio have said they are willing to vaccinate in their studies. Councilor D’Amato said he was confident that in the next few hours this percentage could significantly increase, the fact is that the first doses will arrive on Monday but for the inoculations – at least on a large scale – there is still to wait.

The start of the vaccination campaign in doctors’ offices

To see the glass half full too Roberto Ieraci, scientific manager of the vaccination campaign of the Covid Crisis Unit of the Lazio Region who, at the end of the training webinar with GPs that took place on Saturday, commented: “There was an extraordinary participation in the launch of the campaign , a great adhesion and a desire to participate. We are aware that we will start with a small number of doses available, but it is still important to give a signal and an answer to the citizens. There have been many questions about the methods of administration and timing, but general practitioners are ready to go. All vaccines available are safe and effective “.

According to what has been learned, the family doctors will select and contact their patients by telephone. As mentioned, we will start with the 65-year-olds, then go back in age. The hope of the Region – and of everyone – is that the incoming doses will increase in the coming weeks in order to speed up the administration. At the moment for each doctor they are provided twenty doses per week, like the flu campaign.
