In statements to the Andean AgencyVásquez revealed that sand they joined the Ministry of Health campaign that is on its second day of closing gaps. “We started in September and we have finished the third day. This campaign with the Ministry of Health helps a lot because there is greater dissemination.”

He commented that Brigades hired by the Minsa were available for the health networks of Cajamarca, Celendín, Cutervo and San Ignacio. “That helped us exceed the goal, protect our children and improve our indicators in closing gaps,” said the Immunization Coordinator, emphasizing the importance of vaccination to protect the population.

“The vaccine prevents diseases such as poliomyelitis and measles with which we are now fighting, closing gaps with the human papillomavirus (HPV) that in target groups we have reached 99.8%, expanding the age group that was initially vaccinated to fifth grade girls and boys primary grade,” he said.

The HPV vaccine is now general, sixth grade children who need to be vaccinated can access it and precisely the closing of gaps “is allowing us to do that, to be able to vaccinate and reach children who were not considered at first,” said Vásquez.

During the 5-day campaign, vaccines against 28 diseases were applied, including doses against covid-19, influenza, pneumococcus, measles, rubella, mumps, poliomyelitis, tetanus, diphtheria, hepatitis A, tuberculosis, rotavirus, yellow fever and the human papilloma (HPV) that protects against cervical cancer.

This time the health personnel influenced the vaccine house to house through the brigades, there were few fixed points installed in the parade ground of each jurisdiction. “The brigades mobilized with a nominal registry, the Pensión 65 Program also sent its registry to go to the homes to vaccinate the elderly and complete their pneumococcus doses,” he stressed.

The bivalent vaccine against covid-19 is part of the regular schedule according to technical standard 208, stated Katherine Vásquez, specifying that in the case of children under 4 years of age, two booster doses are applied, the same dose is supplied to older adults; However, for people between 5 and 59 years old they only need to have one dose of the bivalent vaccine this year.

In the event that some people have comorbidity, such as patients with cancer, diabetes, asthma or other diseases that reduce their immune system, “they can receive two or three booster doses according to medical indication,” he noted.

Finally, he announced that the last vaccination day of this year will take place from December 13 to 17. “We hope to have the same reception. The event will be aimed at older adults with the pneumococcus vaccine. With the children we are already closing the scheme, we are good in coverage,” she pointed out.
