Vaccination began at the hospital by residents of the nursing home and caregivers

This Friday, January 15, Mathieu Monnier, director of the hospital, invited local elected officials to describe the arrangements in place that will allow vaccination against Covid-19 in the Piscénoise region. This establishment was chosen to organize the operation in the Pézenas sector. Danièle Demoulin, deputy in charge of solidarity, Rachel Saccucci, first deputy, and Philippe Nicoll, director of town hall services, were able to follow the development of the Vayrac room, rue Henri-Reboul where the reception of volunteers will take place. and vaccination after all necessary interviews and checks.

After these interviews, including the one with a doctor, the injection and the post-vaccine waiting time, of the imposed quarter of an hour making it possible to see that there is no reaction, each person having received the first dose will be able to leave with the vaccination certificate which will open the doors to him, in 21 days for the second and thus being protected.

According to Mathieu Monnier: “The vaccine injected is that of Pfizer. It will arrive every Tuesday morning from the Montpellier University Hospital and will be usable within five days, at room temperature. The sessions will therefore take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, in the afternoon. But, as of this Friday, we received doses allowing the vaccination of 108 people, 81 residents of the nursing home and 27 professionals. To facilitate the organization and in order not to create disruption among the residents, we have decided to this first phase, to carry out the vaccinations in the rooms of the residents. According to the latest directives of the health services, it is possible to vaccinate six people with each vial. The injections will be carried out, in the active phase, by private nurses . “

All this procedure required an adaptation of the premises because it is necessary to respect the whole process. The time of entry and exit will be indicated on the documents. During the passage of the observers, all were able to observe the perfect organization of the procedures and almost a form of enthusiasm of the occupants of the retirement home who awaited this vaccine as a solution so hoped for to find serenity and hope in the short term to see loved ones again. which were greatly missed. We must now wait for the second injection and after a fortnight, hope for this immunity necessary for family reunion. Times have been tough, but the sky is clearing up.

According to Mathieu Monnier, 50% of residents and 50% of caregivers are ready for vaccination. Let us not doubt that after a start showing that few reactions appear, a large number will wish to participate in this vaccination to regain their former life.
