TAMPICO. State governments have started an extensive vaccination program against Covid-19 before AstraZeneca’s vaccines expire, for which they are inviting people to get up to a fourth booster dose.

According to the governments of Tamaulipas, Guanajuato, Mexico City and Hidalgo, the federal government requested support from state administrations for the application of 3.7 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine that the Birmex company began distributing on Monday throughout the country. country.

“They are asking us to support them, in order to conclude the vaccination program in the states, since in the month of April these vaccines are in the process of being able to expire,” said Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca, governor of Tamaulipas. The state has 545 thousand vaccines close to expiration.

In the case of Guanajuato, the Secretary of Health, Daniel Díaz Martínez, pointed out that 591,000 AstraZeneca vaccines available in the state have an expiration date in May, so they have the task of not denying biologicals to any person who requests them. .

In Hidalgo, the government of Omar Fayad set the goal of applying 42,000 doses in 15 days, since his biological will also expire on April 30, and in Mexico City, Eduardo Clark, director of the Digital Innovation Agency Public, also confirmed that they have vaccines to expire.

FOURTH DOSE

Within this strategy, the Ministry of Health in Michoacán announced the application of the fourth dose of the vaccine against Covid-19, aimed at those over 18 years of age, as well as the application of the first dose to those who have not received any yet. .

Through a statement, the agency pointed out that it is a reinforcement for all those who were immunized more than four months ago, since it is the best measure to continue to be protected against serious cases.

The Secretary of Health of Mexico City, Oliva López, also recommended the fourth dose for those older adults who have comorbidities and who have completed four months of having applied their last booster.

In Durango, the personnel of the Tenth Military Zone confirmed that a fourth dose is being applied to people who request it.

INTENSIVE STRATEGY

At the request of the federal government, the state administrations intensified the vaccination program which is carried out at the IMSS, ISSSTE, Pemex hospitals, health centers, macro vaccination posts and even on the streets.

From this Monday 18 and until April 30, a new logistics will be launched in Mexico City to serve approximately one million people who have not come for their Covid-19 vaccine.

The government will enable 187 Health Units, which includes 25 IMSS clinics and 45 ISSSTE clinics, in addition to relaxing the requirements to access the biological.

In Tamaulipas, the state strategy contemplates 200 health centers and five vaccination macro-posts, in addition to the temporary hiring of 120 nurses to support the effort. Added to this is the federal strategy that includes the Social Security, Pemex and ISSSTE hospitals.

In Hidalgo, the deployment includes 192 active offices in 58 municipalities. In addition, the vaccine is also offered to the population that visits tourist places in the state in five municipalities of the spa corridor, which is Actopan, Arenal, Ixmiquilpan, Tecozautla, Ajacuba and four of the mountain corridor: Mineral del Monte, Mineral del Chico. , Omitlan and Huasca.

Vaccines will also be available at 80 state clinics, eight IMSS clinics, five ISSSTE locations and 38 mobile units that visit the 357 locations of the Medical Care Strengthening Program.

In the State of Mexico last Tuesday, military personnel applied the vaccine at the Toluca Bus Terminal, both to people from the state and from other parts of the Republic. In some states, the Army will even open vaccination centers that will be open 24 hours.
