MADRID, 16 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Government of Nicaragua, led by President Daniel Ortega, has canceled another ten new associations and foundations this Friday, including the University of Health Sciences and Renewable Energy (UCSER).

The decree published in the official newspaper ‘La Gaceta’ specifies that the university “opened unauthorized locations”, “does not have laboratories to teach practical classes” or does not have “agreements for the development of vocational training practices.”

The university, registered in May 2022, also has “inconsistencies in the distribution of hours in the face-to-face and blended modalities” and did not comply with “the established procedures” in the graduations of its different students.

Likewise, the Nicaraguan authorities have canceled the legal personality of the Nicaraguan Scouts Association, registered in September 1995, for not reporting on its financial results between the years 2020 and 2022, as well as for having its board of directors expired since 2020.

Ortega attended together with his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, to the celebration for the centenary anniversary of the Scouts in 2017, together with the president of the association, Jorge Katin, according to the newspaper ‘La Prensa’.

The cancellation also affects religious organizations, such as the Missionary Fraternity Association of the Fiat of Mary; the King David Ministry Association; the Rotary Club of León; the Association of Evangelical Church Light in Social Integration; the Professor Ana Fernanda García Foundation Care and Recreation Center for Adolescents of Sutiaba and the Association Church of the Living Doctrine of Jesus Christ Room of Light and Truth.

Likewise, of the ten NGOs canceled, two have been for reasons of “voluntary dissolution”, being the case of the Central American Foundation of Radionics and Radiesthesia in Integral Medicine and the Association of Human Resources Executives of Nicaragua.

The political opposition and organizations in defense of Human Rights frame these cancellations by the Ortega Government in the repressive campaign that began after the anti-government protests of 2018 and that has also affected independent media, activists and religious leaders.
