“With the help of export control of equipment for oil and gas production, the Ministry of Trade will impose restrictions on the export of technologies that provided Russia’s oil refining capacities in the long term,” the document says.
It is also argued that oil refining is a key source of funds for the development of the Russian armed forces.
Meanwhile, the United States says that they and their allies are not interested in reducing the world’s supply of energy resources, so the sanctions will not apply to money circulation.
“But we and our allies share a strong interest in reducing Russia’s status as a leading energy supplier in the long term,” the document says.
In addition, the United States decided to impose blocking sanctions on 22 Russian companies related to the defense sector.
“Among the actions being taken today are completely blocking sanctions against Russian defense structures,” the press release says.
It is noted that the sanctions will affect 22 Russian structures, as well as firms that create combat aircraft, infantry fighting vehicles, electronic weapons systems, missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles for the Russian military.
