The former Boca coach signed a contract with the team Sharjah FC of the United Arab Emirates, but was fired before debuting. The situation was so unusual that it caught the attention of world football.
Since his departure from Boca, back in March 2016, Rodolfo Arruabarrena has gone to head for Asian football. Four years ago, he had been directing continuously in the United Arab Emirates -beyond a brief passage through the neighboring country of Qatar-, where he worked in Al Wasl, Al Rayyan, Al Ahli and had recently arranged in Sharjah FC.
However, to just over a month after signing his contract with the Emirati team and after not having been able to lead even one training due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Basque was dismissed from his position, although he will not leave empty-handed: the DT agreed with the club to rescind his bond in exchange for a million and a half dollars.
The former Xeneize coach had already come to be dismissed in March of this year from Shabab Al Ahli FC, a team in which he spent two years and conquered two titles. However, on that occasion his departure was due to a sports decision, while in this striking case it was due to a change of leadership in Sharjah.
