Mitsubishi and Nissan recalled 148,425 units of cars from the market.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Mitsubishi and Nissan are pulling back (recall) hundreds of thousands of vehicle units from consumers. The policy which they called the ‘improvement campaign’ was carried out because the manufacturer found a disturbance in the components fuel pump vehicle.

The manufacturer, which is incorporated in the Renault-Nissan – Mitsubishi Alliance, draws Xpander in the 2017-2019 production year while Nissan willrecall the all new Nissan Livina which was produced in the period of 22 February 2019 until 24 August 2019.

PT Mitsubishi Motors President Director Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI), Naoya Nakamura, said the program was also a form of their responsibility and commitment in ensuring the safety and comfort of consumers.

“Xpander is a very important model for Mitsubishi Motors and Indonesia. “The improvement campaign program is a form of commitment and responsibility of Mitsubishi Motors in maintaining vehicle quality on an ongoing basis to ensure safety and comfort and to ensure quality after-sales service for Mitsubishi passenger vehicle users in Indonesia,” Naoya said.

Xpander withdrawal is done after a known disturbance in the component fuel pump. Total vehicles to be drivenrecall is 139,111 units of production in 2017 to 2019.

Recall done because it was discovered that the fuel pump in the tank could stop operating. This automatically has the potential to cause the machine to not start or stop working suddenly.

The results of the deepening also revealed that the possible cause was due impeller expand and change shape. This then makes the component rub against the surrounding parts, so that impeller stop spinning.

According to Naoya, the improvement campaign was carried out for inspection on the module label fuel pump Xpander and change of units fuel pump with an enhanced version. The estimated implementation of inspection and repair is around one to two hours per unit.

The main components that are checked or replaced in this repair, among which are a set fuel pump kit made up spacer, O-ring, E clip, and gasket fuel pump.

Related to recall this, MMKSI through Mitsubishi dealers throughout Indonesia will inform and send improvements to consumers whose vehicles are involved. Withdrawals and repairs begin on June 22, 2020 in all Mitsubishi passenger vehicle dealerships.

The process of repairing and replacing components is done free of charge. Consumers only need to come to the Mitsubishi dealership to carry out checks on the vehicle.

PT Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI) also held a similar step. NMI General Manager of Communication, Hana Maharani said, the products covered in this program were the all-new Nissan Livina that were produced in the period of 22 February 2019 to 24 August 2019.

Therefore, Nissan will contact the affected vehicle owner so that customers can immediately inspect the vehicle and replace gas stations in all Nissan authorized dealers, free of charge.

“Program recall this shows Nissan’s commitment in ensuring safety, service and customer satisfaction. “Until now we have not received reports of fatal incidents in Indonesia related to this,” Hana said.

In total, all-new Nissan Livina products in Indonesia that will berecall is 9,314 units. Through this program, it is expected that all consumers can immediately conduct an inspection, so that the vehicle can be ensured to be in optimal conditions.
