An arson attack was carried out on the Reichstag building in Tiergarten on Monday night.
Previously unknown perpetrators had a flammable liquid on a chipboard that replaces a window, spilled and set fire to it at Friedrich-Ebert-Platz on the east side of the building.
The fire department arrived with a large contingent, but no longer had to intervene. The Berlin police and officials of the Bundestag police were quickly on site. The perpetrator (s) were nevertheless able to escape. It is still unclear whether they were filmed by video cameras.
Traces are being secured on site, the search for the perpetrators is ongoing, and the state police is investigating.
