Ms Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke today by telephone with her American counterpart, Mr Antony Blinken.
During this first very warm exchange, the two ministers expressed their common desire to pursue and further strengthen the close partnership between France and the United States by continuing to implement the Rome Declaration of October 2021. They expressed their determination to continue the close and confident coordination conducted on the war in Ukraine and referred to the ongoing efforts to strengthen support for Ukraine, particularly in terms of defense equipment.
They expressed their common desire to strengthen international coordination to respond to the food crisis resulting from Russian aggression against Ukraine. They reiterated the support of France and the United States for the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO and discussed the situation in the Western Balkans. Regarding the Iranian nuclear dossier, they spoke of the importance of a rapid return to the JCPoA.
